The Lady River Rats jumped out to a 7-2 lead over Holland Calvary, but the rest of the game was a back and forth affair. As in typical of many cross town games, it came down to the wire. Actually, it came down past the wire, as the Rats forced overtime with a timely runner by Eliza Beird with 6 seconds remaining in the game.
Just like the overtime loss to Zeeland West, the team couldn’t find enough buckets in overtime to win the game. However, it was not because a lack of effort.
Stefanie Olesh paced the Rats by scoring 23 Points. Most of these points came from attacking the hoop and creating baskets on her own.
The team will need to regroup this week, as they play league favorite Fruitport Calvary. The game is at 6:00p.m., Tuesday at River Rat Field house.
