Rats split games at Holland tournament

Black river beat holland at the Holland tournemant 2-0. Kayla Brothers and Haley Griffin scored goals. Abby Frankhouse had an assist and Martha Rocker recorded the shutout making 3 saves. 

Black river lost to Cadillac 5-1. Griffin scored on an assist from Danae Winia on a beautiful set piece. Katie Banaszak was in goal and made 8 saves. Black river is now 2-3 on the year. 



Rat win Home Tournament

On Saturday, April 23, the Lady Rats won 2 games and tied 1 to win their home tournament with the best record.  The early game saw the rats explode for 4 goals beating Delton Kellogg 4-2.  Ashlynn Seymour led the way with 3 goals in the game against Delton Kellogg, Kayla Brothers added 1 goal.  In the second game of the day, the Rats took on North Muskegon and played to a physical 0-0 draw.  Whitehall was the final opponent of the day and the Rats needed a win in order to secure the best record of the day.  The first half ended in a 0-0 tie as both teams had great scoring chances.  The Rats were able to break the tie and take a 1-0 lead early in the second half on a goal by Abby Frankhouse.  The Frankhouse goal stood up as the Rats won 1-0.  Black River is now riding a 4 game streak without a loss as it takes on Hopkins at Hopkins on Monday, April 25 at 4:30.


Rats fall to Dux

Black River lost 2-1 to Zeeland West on Friday night. Maggie Christie opened the scoring in the first half with goal off an Abby Frankhouse assist. The teams were tied 1-1 at halftime. West scored the game winner with 43 seconds left. Katie Banaszak made 12 saves in goal. Black River is now 0-1 on the year. 


Rats win Home Tournament

Black River went 3-0 at their home tournament by beating Holland 2-0, North Muskegon 2-0 and Whitehall 5-0.  Black River's defense led the way today.  Kayla Brother, Eliza Beird, Clara Phillips, Lexi Dalecke, and goalie Sophie Deleeuw kept all three opponents off the scoreboard.  Hanna Veenman and Abby Frankhouse each had 2 goals and 2 assists on the day.  Black River is now 6-3-3 on the year.


Rats Score 5 in win over South Haven

A much needed scoring burst occured Monday night in the cold and rain.  Black River defeated South Haven 5-0 behind 2 goals from Hanna Veenman and one goal each from Eliza Beird, Abby Frankhous, and Sammi Frankhouse.  Eliza Beird had 3 assists, Abby Frankhouse and Allison Vroon each had 1 assist.  The Rats improved to 2-3-3 on the year.
